LASIK Eye Surgery

Standard LASIK surgery is an effective treatment for patients with mild prescriptions, average-sized pupils and average corneal thickness. As described on our LASIK page, Standard LASIK surgery involves the creation of the corneal flap, followed by the use of an advanced excimer laser to reshape the cornea.

During Standard LASIK surgery, your surgeon will remove a pre-determined amount of corneal tissue. The amount of tissue to be removed is determined during the pre-operative assessment.

This safe and painless procedure takes approximately ten minutes of operating room time, during which the laser is used for less than 30 seconds on average per eye. Standard LASIK surgery is effective at correcting nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism.
